Joan appeared on the popular TV show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. i n 1967. The episode
was entitled “The Five Daughters Affair” and Joan, although she gave it a lot of class, was killed off almost
at the very beginning. It was always intended to turn the two-part episode into a feature film [The Karate Killers] for European markets, and Joan was hired to add marquee value. Here she poses with (from left
to right) David McCallum, Robert Vaughn, and Leo G. Carroll. She was given a THRUSH rifle as a souvenir [THRUSH was the sinister
group who was always fighting UNCLE agents]. Joan, however, played a “good guy” in this. [NOTE: For more on The
Man from U.N.C.L.E. v isit Quirk's Reviews Online at http://quirksreviews.tripod.com.] In The Man from UNCLE Book by Jon Heitland, David McCallum said: "I remember Joan Crawford vividly. With the red
carpet, and the flowers, and the wallpaper on the dressing room, everything beautifully done but nothing matching. It was
a wonderful Hollywood moment when she arrived on the set." Joan told producer Norman Felton that she got a great kick out
of showing the THRUSH rifle to her friends.
